She is a recipient of a Louisiana Division of the Arts Fellowship, a Shreveport Regional Arts Council Fellowship, and four grants from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities. LaRue’s work has appeared in such journals as \u003cem\u003eThe Southern Review\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eThe American Poetry Review\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eThe Maryland Review\u003c\/em\u003e, and \u003cem\u003eThe Massachusetts Review\u003c\/em\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLaRue attended Louisiana Tech University and received two BAs in English and psychology, and an MA in counseling. She studied under the tutelage of Ernest Gaines and Darrell Borque at the University of Louisana and graduated with a Ph.D. in creative writing and early American literature. She has attended both Bread Loaf and Squaw Valley writing conferences. She has taught at Grambling State University and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and is currently teaching American literature at LSUS. In the summer of 2014 she taught ESL at the International University of Business, Agriculture, and Technology, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and spent some weekends touring rural hospitals with Bangladesh Health Project medical workers.
